Nearly 100 people flocked to our meeting last week at St Mary’s Church about the dangers of air pollution. As well as the plans for the Mortlake Brewery site, two new proposals to develop Barnes Hospital and the Homebase Site in North Sheen have been submitted to Richmond Council. Without a coordinated and sustainable transport strategy for the area – traffic and pollution is set to get even worse in Mortlake, Barnes and East Sheen. Air pollution expert and Emeritus Professor, Roger Mason was the Guest Speaker. He issued a stark warning about the negative health impact of poor air quality on the community.
The detailed notes of the meeting have been posted on the Mortlake Brewery Community Group website but you can read Roger’s presentation here. We also heard from two other speakers at the meeting; Howard Potter, local transport expert and Melissa Compton Edwards from the East Sheen Mums for Lungs group. You can link to their presentations here:

Thank you to everyone for coming to the meeting and showing your support for cleaner air in Mortlake.
