We now know the Mayor’s Hearing to determine the future of the brewery site is going ahead on Thursday November 26th at 1.30pm despite the pandemic and lockdown restrictions. We are calling on him to postpone the decision and meet with MBCG representatives to consider our Community Plan as an alternative to the current proposals. We have been shocked to learn that the GLA has met with the developers on 23 occasions since May. Our own attempt to get meetings with the GLA have been stonewalled. It is now urgent that the Mayor agrees to meet with the community as soon as possible.
In the meantime, this is what we are planning in the run up to the Hearing:
- Asking local, London-wide and national groups to endorse our campaign
- Using every opportunity to lobby the Mayor including the Mayor’s People Question Time on November 12
- Urging our local elected representatives and politicians to back us
- Securing support from wider community and key influencers
- Contacting the Media to highlight our campaign
- Setting up a new crowd funding campaign
- Preparing our contributions to the Hearing
- Organising a virtual community event for 19th November
- Promoting our campaign on social media
- Keeping in regular contact with supporters
