The two planning applications for the brewery site will finally be held heard at a special Planning committee on Wednesday 19th July, 7pm, Clarendon Hall, York House, Twickenham, TW1 3AA.
A number of local groups including Mortlake Brewery Community Group, Barnes Community Association and Mortlake with East Sheen Society have registered to speak about the plans for the development and the secondary schoo submitted by the owners of the site, Reselton Properties. The agenda and reports by officers will be published 5 days before the meeting takes place on 19th July and we will see whether the views of our community have finally been taken seriously about the local impact of the proposed plans. This is a public meeting and we hope you will come along to support us and make your presence felt.
The MBCG has never opposed the development of the site but we do not agree with a secondary school and have consistently objected to the high buildings, density, loss of green space and lack of affordable housing. Increased traffic in the area is one of the main problems, which will only get worse with proposals for other schemes in North Sheen (Homebase site in Manor Road), Kew Retail Park and Barnes Hospital. These developments will bring over 3,000 units and 6,000 people living, working and going to school in our area. That is why we support the local Green Party call for an independent assessment of the transport and traffic needs arising from the cumulative impact of these developments. If you agree, please sign and share the petition online by 30th June. The link is here > https://www2.richmond.gov.uk/Account/ePetitionDetails.aspx?ID=168.
