At Tuesday night’s online local hustings (convened by MBCG, Mortlake and East Sheen Society and Mortlake Community Association), the main Party candidates for SW London, Greater London Assembly Candice Atterton, (Labour) Andree Frieze, (Green) Gareth Roberts (Liberal Democrat) and Nicholas Rogers (Conservative) agreed that the enlarged scheme in front of the Mayor of London is too tall and too dense. They all said they would lobby the Mayor to reject the scheme if elected on May 6th.
We are delighted with this result and will hold our new GLA member, whoever they are, to this commitment. It was a lively evening, ably chaired by local Mortlake resident, Dame Una O’Brien. The candidates clashed over the proposal for the secondary school, affordable housing and car usage but were united in their opposition to the new proposals.
The debate was watched live by over 100 people. It lasted for just over and hour was recorded. Check it below or click here.
Thank you to Candice, Andree, Gareth and Nick for agreeing to attend the hustings and for sharing their views so openly with the local community.
